After installing Microsoft updates for VISTA (SP1) I lost internet connectivity. Had the same problem in the past after automatic Windows updates. Rolling back the updates with an old restore point solved the problem (while leaving many others unsolved, but at least I could surf the web). I just installed all the updates I could and then SP2, hoping the internect connection would work fine. It does not although I can ping yahoo.com... I prefer not to roll back the updates to keep all the security updates. Although the wireless connection appears fine, opening IE8 gives "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". Diagnose connection problems does not find any problem. At some point I was able to get the following: =============================== Component GUID:{7071ECA3-663B-4BC1-A1FA-B97F3B917C55} Component file:[C:\Windows\system32\connect.dll] Error:(0x80041002)<The error message could not be found>. Additional info: The wizard cannot start your default web browser. =========================== The laptop is a Lenovo ideapad Y430 with Windows Vista SP2.
